About the term ITI or What does ITI means?

ITI stands for an Industrial training institute and is one of the major schemes under the government of India in the field of Vocational Training. ITI training is known at the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) which was introduced by the government in the year 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the domestic industries. The Directorate General of Training (DGT) in Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is the apex organization for development and coordination at the National level for the programs relating to vocational training including Women’s Vocational Training. Industrial Training Institutes are under the administrative and financial control of State Governments or Union Territory Administrations. DGT is in process of constantly upgrading and modernizing the ITIs in terms of their infrastructure, pedagogy, curriculum, and technology interventions. Accordingly, new-age courses in IoT, Renewable Energy, Additive Manufacturing Technology (3-D Printing), Mechatronics, Drone Technology, etc. have been recently introduced in the ITIs.
